Subconscious Programming: Is Yours Sabotaging Your Life?

Is your life exactly what you want it to be? Probably not! Do you feel that you repeat the same old patterns year after year in your relationships, your finances and your career? Are you held back by feelings of insecurity or inadequacy? If the answer is yes, then very likely your subconscious programming is undermining you and sabotaging your life.

The way you experience life is coloured by the conditioning deep within your mind. The problem is that your subconscious holds programmes and beliefs of which you are completely unaware, and these can be extremely negative and self-defeating. When something happens in your life, even if you are consciously positive, the underlying negativity can rear its ugly head, destroying your confidence, undermining your trust in others or blocking opportunities for you.

You can find out exactly what is in your subconscious mind by learning to muscle test yourself. Muscle testing works because your mind cannot cope with too much stress at once. When you are holding a muscle tense, this requires a certain degree of mental focus. If you then make a statement that your subconscious agrees with, it will be happy and you will be able to keep tensing the muscle. However, if you make a statement which your subconscious thinks is untrue, it panics, stress goes up, and the muscle will relax.

The following standing test method is the easiest muscle test to perform on yourself.

How to Muscle Test Yourself

  1. Have a drink of water to hydrate your system.
  2. Stand upright with your feet slightly apart.
  3. Move one hand upwards, a few inches in front of your body, as if you were zipping up an imaginary jacket, from your abdomen to the top of your head. This strengthens your energy field ready for the muscle testing.
  4. Now close your eyes, relax and say aloud “Yes, yes, yes”. You should find that your body spontaneously leans forwards.
  5. Then, with your eyes still closed say aloud “No, no, no”. You should find that your body spontaneously leans backwards.

Now, if you make a statement which your subconscious thinks is true, you will move forwards, and similarly if you make a statement which your subconscious thinks is false, you will move backwards. It is very important when doing this to relax, put yourself in ‘neutral’ and do not try to predict the result. If you feel yourself anticipating the result, or feel your anxiety rising as you make the statement, you must stop, have some water, and start again.

Now, check yourself with a few questions to which you know the answer, for example ‘My name is Henry’, ‘Today is Tuesday’, ‘I am wearing a red shirt’. You will move forwards or backwards depending upon whether you are telling the truth or not. If the testing is not working correctly, drink some more water, then tap your fingers at the top of your breastbone for a few seconds, and try again. Make sure the testing is working properly before you continue.

You are now ready to access your subconscious.

Here are some very common limiting programmes, which, if you have them, will undermine your daily life in all kinds of ways. In each case if you move forwards then that belief is held by your mind. If you move backwards, you do not have that belief. One word of caution; the subconscious does not understand the word ‘not’, so if you use this in your test statements you are likely to get a false result. Instead, say ‘unable to’, ‘fail to’ or ‘without’, as these will give you much more accurate results.

Typical Sabotaging Programmes

  • I am worthless.
  • Money is evil.
  • I have to separate myself from God.
  • I have to be punished.
  • I need to be ill.
  • I am unable to heal.
  • I have to die to be free/loved/with God.
  • I am unworthy of love.
  • I have to suffer.
  • I have to be perfect to be loved.
  • I have to cease to exist.
  • It is impossible to have money and be spiritual.
  • I have to be abused to learn something.
  • I have to be betrayed to learn something.
  • I am nothing.

There are, of course, many different sabotaging programmes. This list should give you the general idea.

Once you have found the negative roots within your subconscious, you can take steps to change that programming and change your life. Remember, understanding is power. Even before you have done this work, you will become more aware of how you sabotage yourself, and can choose not to repeat the same patterns.

You have now taken the first step towards clearing the roots of your self-sabotage. Once cleared, the old patterns, fears and limitations will simply fall away. You will be well on the way towards making your life everything you want it to be.

Using the Krups XP4050 – The Programming is Simple

When you don’t have a lot of time, it can be maddening to have to brew your coffee yourself. Even though I will drink instant coffee, I really needed a decent coffee machine, particularly a unit that brewed espresso as well, since this is what I enjoy the most. It is a very stylish appliance that makes a great cup of real European-style espresso. I was even surprised to find out not too long ago that this model will even brew cappuccino. I am amazed! I am sure I will be entertaining my friends in the near future. On her way to work, my neighbor is already coming over for a cup of coffee!

Confessions of a Bedroom Programmer

Sitting in the back of my brother’s car clutching my brand new Atari STE I happily declared I was going to be writing my first game soon. The Atari STE came with a selection of games I was keen to play but the image of STOS the Game Creator, a programming package which came with the STE, was the center of my dreams. The thought of being able to create any game I want, limited only by my imagination. Nothing in the world mattered to me at that very moment as I dreamed of hiding away with my copy of STOS Basic and creating my own games. Years later I have programmed countless pieces of code, a collection of popular games still displayed on various websites and wrote many articles on programming which I proudly display on my website to this day.

Programming can be highly addictive as I soon found out. I would come home from work and aim to be locked away with my computers as soon as possible. My mother would call up the stairs to tell me family members had arrived and I would reluctantly leave my babies just to walk to the top of the stairs to say hello. If they were lucky they would get my attention a bit longer if I came down for coffee. Times when I attempted a social life my conversation would be itching to come round to computers.

I ventured into the outside world in a desperate attempt to find an interest other than computers. I joined a karate class and actually started to enjoy the first year or so there, until visions of my babies started to occupy my mind and I started skipping lessons. Then one night in the club my Sensei read out a list of people who had the lowest attendance that month and mine was the lowest with just one visit. My Sensei glared at me with anger in his eyes and said: “If I want to go on my computer then get knotted” or words to that affect.

I have to confess that I am an addict when it comes to computers. It came to the point where I decided to leave karate class and spend more time at home hidden from the world – just me, my computers and endless cups of coffee which I would make just to have a reason to pop downstairs and see if my family are still there.

I discovered I had the programming bug at school when we learned how to type out simple programs on the BBC micro. Using drawing commands to draw simple shapes but it was enough to wet my appetite for programming. I got myself a Spectrum 48K and was soon learning basic commands, enough to write a small and simple adventure game.

Years later I was programming in STOS on the Atari STE and Amos on the Amiga 1200 and this became a big part of my life. My social life was at a minimum; often I had to push myself. I hated the idea of dealing with any situations outside of the bedroom. I was in danger of becoming a real loner who would happily shun the society and live in my own private world where people are pixels.

CONCLUSION

Thankfully I have improved over the years and have a better social life. However I found I am still happier being at home with my wife and my PC. I don’t have any regrets that I didn’t spend more time in the outside world. But I will still like to remind others that programming is a very addictive hobby and can lead to you become a sad git like me.
